Have you applied for a passports for you and your children? You will need passports thru the military for pcs travel. Might not be a bad idea to go ahead and get tourist passports also, you are not supposed to travel on your no-fee passport.

If you have a stateside driver?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s license, make sure it is up to date, and will not expire while you are overseas.

Medical clearance. Have you gotten it for you and your children?
You will also need school records if your children are school age.
Do you have pets? You will need to do some paperwork if you re pcsing with a pet.

Can he not return stateside, and then all of you PCS to Itlay. Most people I have known with Italy as a follow-on, first went back to the states, then PCS?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢d to Italy.

Once orders are in hand, you can schedule TMO, shipping of your vehicle, get airline tickets purchased. That sort of thing.?¢‚Ǩ¬ù
